I was notified by my tenanat that the original water heater in my home was leaking. I contacted Home Depot because I trused them, and was quoted what I thought was a fair price to replace the same unit (shorty 40) that was currently in the home. The price quoted was $640 with install, and they gave me another number to call to schedule the installation.

When athe installer arrived the next day, the price quickley soared to $1600. It was like dealing with a used car salesman who quotes a price and you later find out the tires, steering wheel etc are not included in that price. It turned out braces, strapping, expansion tank etc where all extras but necessary. I paid the bloated price because the tennenat had a family and needed the hot water asap, but I will never again look at Home Depot as a company that I can trust.
