Westchester Toyota Dealership Complaint - Con Artists - Do not leave a deposit here - Refuses to return my deposit

Refuses to return my deposit - Complaint
Review by NGee on 2009-12-03
YONKERS, NEW YORK -- This dealership is a poor representation of the Toyota Brand. As you walk through the door, the salespeople who approach you with smiles, let you know they are infamous for excellent customer service, etc.; however, be aware. I left a $500 deposit in order to run numbers with the finance department (because as Jaime Gonzalez-salesperson stated "no one does anything for free"). When I decided to not purchase at their dealership, I was treated disrespectfully, told I would not get my deposit back and was not acknowledged over the phone or in person. This is what comes about when ghetto folks run an establisment. The $500 will not break my bank; however, I will dispute it legally if I have to based on principal. Westchester Toyota employees are a bunch of smooth talkers who will do anything for a sale.

It's a shame.

That is the first I have heard of having to put down a deposit to check on financing.

what? Did you leave them 500 dollars by check or credit card? Don't tell me you just gave them 500 dollars in cash or you deserve to lose it. If its a check, I would immediately stop payment on it, and if it was a credit card, I would call and dispute the charge as a fraudulent charge.

PepperElf, you are super funny. :) JR, I know.. Trust me I know.. Tennboy1981 - By credit card, absolutely not cash. I already disputed the charge. They told me if we opted to buy the deposit would go towards the downpayment and if not then we would be refunded without hassle and said this is Toyota's policy. They STILL have not returned my calls. Customer service there is absolutely horrible. This was my first "new car" purchase.
:(
damn them.

You could also write (not email) Toyota corporate, and let them know what's going on with this dealership.
