On March 4, 2001 I entered the Mishawaka, Indiana store to look at some bedroom furniture. After much discussion with the sales clerk, my husband and I decided to purchase 1 each of the following items:
1. 60980842 Right wall unit
2. 60980883 Pier
3. 60980834 Left wall unit
4. 60980891 Chest
5. 60980859 Dresser
6. 60980867 Mirror
We were informed that it would take a couple of weeks for the furniture to arrive, with which we had no problem.
Weeks turned into months. During those months my husband called weekly. We were given various excuses and below is a sample:
1. We are short staffed and cannot go get the one in the other store
2. We can’t find one piece
3. The other store manger will bring it when she visits this store
4. We don’t have anyone to go and get the items
5. We sold out and are looking for the items
6. The other store refuses to send the items to us
We even spoke to the other store that also promised to bring the items down when they were visiting the Mishawaka store. We never heard from either store when they promised to call back.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
I am appalled at the action of your store clerks and am greatly disappointed in the service. I have shopped in the other stores many times and this will be my first and last time in the furniture department. It was a very nice bedroom set and I made arrangements to get rid of my other furniture in expectation of receiving the Big Lots one. I finally went to collect the money that I paid down in August. I have not had a good explanation or apology and would appreciate one
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
