Chicken of the Sea Complaint - Bone in Tuna - Tuna in oil based 6 oz can

Tuna in oil based 6 oz can - Complaint
Review by LilyLily on 2010-02-03
Upon opening a can of tuna for dinner, I
found a 1.5 inch bone in it...and 1/2 smaller
bone-I contacted company and took a photograph
of it. I could have choked and or be in the
er right now, if I had not noticed.

A bone in fish is not considered a foreign object, though it would be nice not to have them, you do. You just have to be careful, I inspect any tuna and salmon with my fingers to detect any bones that may be in them...especially the salmon because you know they are in there. Some people just chew up the tuna bones, but that's them...I pick them out. You just have to be extra careful when giving any kind of fish to young children to be sure they DON'T get any bones. It doesn't hurt to let the company know about it, if they get enough notices from enough people, they may inspect the products more...you may even get a coupon, but again it isn't considered a foreign object.

Tuna is a dead fish. Fish have bones......

heck, db - you can even buy canned salmon that's specifically sold with the bones still in it.
the can advertises it as being a good source of calcium.

now if the tuna had say, a bit of dolphin fin in it, then sure there'd be an issue
but it's not unreasonable to see a bit of bone once in a while.

kinda like meat... sometimes you find a vein in your beef.

I hate to tell you, LL, but fish have bones, and occasionally, one or two will slip through any processing. Next time, buy shark, as their skeletons are cartilege and come out in one piece, usually. Even if a piece breaks off, it is soft and chewy.

I always shake my head at complaints like this where a natural body part etc from a dead animal ends up in the package and people can't understand HOW it could possibly happen.

You should never assume that processed fish or fish filets are bone free.
I wouldn't recommend that you disect your smoked salmon before eating it like an earlier poster did and even LadyS knows to be careful when feeding small children fish...DUH!
It is an isolated event and writing letters won't change how they process their fish DB, or should I say, Dear Abby?

many people look forward to finding bones in tuna. this proves it is real fish, and as said, a source of calcium.

I think the people that posted a comment that didnt like the guy posting a comment a bone in chicken of the sea works for chicken of the sea> I to found a boner in my sandwich, good size of one, I could of got stuck if down. what if it went down a little child. There should be no excuses why a bone was in the tuna none. I dont care if it is a fish. if no bones are suppose to be in there, then make sure no bones are suppose to be in there. STOP cutting corners
