Auto Leasing - Complaint
Review by ogo on 2010-02-04
I leased my last 4 vehicles through GMAC and never had a problem when I turned in my vehicle to the dealer. Based on their records, I am classified as a premium customer.
In September 09, I returned my Buick with 36,000 miles and GMAC sends me an invoice for $123.99 to fix minor scratches. Mind you the vehicle has 36,000 miles and these minor scratches could be fixed with a $2 wax polish. I would have fixed it had they informed me that the scratches were not acceptable. Also they posted pictures of some gasoline stains near the gas tank. Yes, gasoline stains! Like having a used umbrella with water stains. I could have fixed the scratches if they told me about it. I spent $10 to wash the damn car before I turned it in. And they want $123.99 so they can grease their favorite dealer.
GMAC hires 3rd party assessors whose only goal is to find way to assess damage. Never again GMAC. Bankruptcy has made this company another crook in business suit. Let’s rename them GMACrooks.
I called the 1-800 number and an idiot named [snip] tells me, "Okay don't pay, I'll get the collection agency on you". I ask for the Manager and her ([snip]) voice mail says she'll be out for 2 weeks. the office has no back up and [snip] never called. Yes, manager's out and there's no one else. Just send me your money. That's the message from GMACrooks. NEVER AGAIN GMAC.
Meantime, they send reminder after reminder and had a collection agency follow up. Yes, the manager never called but a collection agency did. All this to recover $124 from a premium customer to fix scratches on a 36,000 mile vehicle.
NEVER LEASE FROM GMAC. AS AN AUTO INDUSTRY EMPLOYEE, I KNOW THIS INDUSTRY. STAY AWAY FROM GMACrooks
