Comcast Corporation Complaint - Out of USA Customer Service

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I'm highly offended that Comcast & many other major companies, continue to use people outside this country for customer servicing while we have a 10% unemployment rate. I realize the name of the game is money & profits, but people are losing their homes & going hungry due to unemployment. My son is one of those people, he has been out of work for 2 years & lost his home too. Comcast is based right here in the USA, (Phila.,PA,) it's about time they began thinking about the people here & the future of our country. Every time I call a customer service number for help it turns out they are in places like India, Mexico, somewhere in the Middle East & who knows where else. Today when I contacted Comcast, the representative was in the Philipines. In the past I contacted Franklin Mint, it's in Pennsylvania, their customer service dept. is in India & they don't have a number for the corp. offices in PA. Maybe it's about time the government did something to stop these multi-billion dollar corporations from taking jobs out of this country in the name of mega-profits. People come to this country for the 'American Dream', companies need to opened their eyes before there is no 'Dream' left.

Aside from it being all about the $$$$ you can thank your gubment and the useless nations for wanting to make it a global economy. Also, give credit to those of you using wally world and other giants of retail for cheaper goods made elsewhere, instead of your local businesses.

Excellent response JKT and too many complain about the high prices yet expect the finest of services at bargain basement prices. You wouldn't believe the backlash in this area when the local telephone companies began tacking on an additional monthly charge of $.90 for 911 service. Ever had to call 911 for an emergency? I have and was glad they were around and I didn't have to call India for assistance.

The 'dream' for many people has turned into a waking nightmare. I agree with everything you say, but I don't think it will ever change.
Comcast doesn't outsource all of their customer service, at least overseas. I did ComCast customer support at a call centre in Canada, and I believe there's also an office in Fayetteville.

very true.

i DO know a company that is 100% made in America. The company turned down the chance to move the factory to a foreign country.

Their prices are NOT cheap.


That's the real issue. People are use to paying tiny prices for stuff made overseas by people earning tiny paychecks.

And then they wonder why all of the jobs are sent overseas...

Pepper that is very true. I would be willing to pay more for items or services that are 100% provided in the US. It's not easy to do but for now I avoid companies that outsource when I can.

In my area with Comcast I've never dealt with anyone overseas. All have been within my area. I have dealt with other places of business that I became best friends with someone with a thick accent in some other country. After a while I could actually understand them. I, too, don't like jobs being taken elsewhere when there are so many individuals in this country looking for work. People don't want to pay the additional price and that's what it will take for the jobs to remain here right now.

I live in what they call the Tri-City area of Washington state, the three cities being Olympia/Tumwater/Lacey. We have been Comcast customers here for about 19 months now. When we have questions or need service, our calls are handled right here in Olympia. The people have all been top-notch, knowledgeable and friendly, and the techs we have met know their business completely.
