Don't buy a Maytag Neptune washer! Why?
1. Maytag products are undependable and unreliable. They may have a history of how to do mecahnical products right, but in this era of digial electronics, they have not extended their expertise to include electronics.
2. Maytag does not stand by its products or customers.

Maytag products are undependable and unreliable.
My unit (a washer/dryer stack) failed in less than five years of normal use. The problem was not mechanical, but rather a failure of the control (circuit) board. Cost to repair from Sears Service? $460!!! Fortunately, the day after the replacement part was ordered, I called Maytag to complain and discovered there was a class action lawsuit against Maytag regarding front loading washers, which includes the control board as one of the issues. I can file a claim form and have Maytag comne out and replace the failed part for free. However, I will not be reimbursed if I process with my Sears Service order and pay out of pocket.

2. Maytag does not stand by its products or customers.
If Maytag cared about its reputation, its customers, and its claims of dependability and reliability, it would have recalled the products rather than be forced to do the right thing as part fo a lawsuit settlement. Furthermore, it would reimburse customers who unknowingly paid for covered service out of pocket, or at least publish a service bulletin to its retailers (such as Sears) to advice customers to pursue the class action remedy rather than pay for service out of pocket. I got lucky, and am just out the $69 for the initial service call (only because I refused to pay for the part in advance). Other customers won't be so lucky or so stubborn.

I will never again buy a Maytag product.

    Seems like your biggest complaint should be with Sears! They charge the highest for repair services and don't always use genuine Maytag parts for the repairs. PS Maytag does give the info about recalls, class action suits, etc to Sears they just don't tell you about it unless you ask......you see they want to make money and if they can get $460 out of you they will. I have even heard of Sears charging customers for warranty parts, unbeleivable as it is some people do not read their warranty info and beleive anything the Sears repairman told them. I assume that Maytag took care of the repair and told you the truth, that has been overlooked..... more >>

    I purchased a Maytag MSD2356AEB refrigerator in July 2000. Virtually every six months, this refrigerator has broken down with the same problem. A faulty circuit control board. I have no idea, why Maytag hasn't recalled this part. Instead they put customers through hell, with constant repair jobs for the same issue.

    I finally decided to purchase an extended warranty, after getting burned several times with expensive repair jobs.

    The warranty plan by May tag, is actually outsourced to a company called A&E Service. A&E provides very poor service, slow response time and doesn't have any parts for Maytag refrigerators. It took A&E 4... more >>

    My Maytag dryer Mod: MDG308DAWW was broke when I purchased it, I've had 4 service calls and it's still broke and only 9 months old. Maytag wants to sell me an extended warranty now to fix it. My Maytag dishwasher also broke down (pump)after a few months. Bottom line don't buy Maytag!!!!!! anything.
