National Home Protection Complaint - 3 year warranty = S.O.L.!!! - Home warranty

Home warranty - Complaint
Review by speda on 2010-07-19
I purchased a 3 year warranty back in July of 2007 (NO, I NEVER GOT MY GIFT CARD EITHER). In 2008 I had my need for service. I contacted NHP and was told that my warranty had expired (after less than 1 year). After an extremely long conversation with numerous representatives, supervisors, and a manager, it was eventually straightened out that I did in fact have another 2 years on the warrant. However...they still refused service. It was a while ago, so I don't remember the exact details of the issue, but in any case I chalked it up to misfortune and paid for the repairs myself. Now, I am approaching the end of the warranty (the apparently IMAGINARY protection I paid for) and I found out about a month ago, when my appliances started dying, that the customer service number listed on my warranty documents are no longer in service, their website no longer exists, and I am basically S. O.L.

The best part, is that now I am trying to sell my home and will have to replace appliances that I THOUGHT I had coverage for.

Thanks for the warning. Warranties are only as good as the companies behind them, and even the reputable companies are finding ways to not keep up their end of the deal. Once they have your money, there's nothing in it for them to actually follow through.
