Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Get your lies straight - Credit card

Credit card - Complaint
Review by skelly39 on 2010-08-12
Why do banks insist on lying when they slash your credit limit or close your card?
My husband has a Chase Amazon Visa. We paid it off about two months ago. I knew they would cut the credit limit since we were no longer using it except for small purchases to earn points. We would pay it right off before the due date.
I signed in one day to pay the bill and noticed that the credit line had been cut nearly in half. No letter, nothing, but whatever. That's their prerogative. Then, about 10 days later, the letter comes informing him that they reduced the credit line because he has too many revolving accounts with high balances. That's pretty funny considering he has three credit cards, all with 0 balances, and he has for awhile.
Really...if you just want to get rid of us because we aren't making you money, just say so. We're adults-we can take it. Just don't lie about it.

Forgive them. Banks cannot help it. They MUST lie. To do otherwise is totally out of character. Their legal staffs advise them to divulge as little factual information as possible. "Notifications" of any sort are designed to be as generic and ambiguous as possible. You know, one size fits all.

Chase is the expert at double speak. There are better companies to do business with.

Whenever you see the name 'Chase' on ANYTHING....Run! Run! Run away as fast as you can and never look back. If you HAVE anything with the name 'Chase'...get rid of it as soon as you can.

Yes, they lie and they have their reps on the front line. That is why I quit working for them. They had us making promises to the Hurricane Victims that they would not keep and it was us, the reps that had to face them when they found out they were lied to. I would never work for them again because of that and I would never have any credit, mortgage or banks connected with them.
Try to find a bank that lies a little less. Yes, the lesser of the evils.

Which Bank is less evil?

Skelly, I have the same card and use it the same way and for the same reason (points). I've had it for quite a while and have been very pleased, but lately I've been wondering if this will happen to me too. I have to start paying better attention. Thanks for the reminder.

I am no fan of Chase. They are deceitful, gouge the good paying customer and look for excuses to raise your APR and lower your credit limit. Their collection dept went after my deceased mother's account ($600 owed) like a pack of rabid Pitt Bulls. Having said that I play the C.C. game to my advantage with them. Been with them for several years and have their freedom card with a $20K limit. I make a small purchase every few months to keep it active. This helps to keep my FICO score high. For major purchases I use two other cards with good reward points or 5% cash back.

Chase has an 89% negative rating on this site and they work hard to maintain it.

I had the same experience with my 2 Chase Visa cards. Didn't matter that I had perfect credit history, long-time customer with Chase checking account, investment brokerage account, and home mortgage. I have moved my investment account to T. Rowe Price and accelerated paying off my mortgage. I will be Chase free in 12 months or less.
Chase-sucks.org is one of my favorite web sites.
