My family and I made reservations in the "newest hotel" in Canyon Texas for 2 nights while we helped our daughter/grand daughter move into her college dormatory. Compared to the Holiday Express next door who offers a $77 per night rate for college student family the Best Western outrageous at $127 plus tax. The grounds around the hotel were pitiful with grass and weeds growing everwhere, including sand spurs. The spa was out of order, the elevator smelled really bad and the rooms had bed bugs. The staff was young and inexperienced. when I asked about their ethernet connection in the room I was told it didn't work but they had Wyfi. I plugged my own cable into the ethernet and connected to the internet. during a thunderstorm the lobby entrance flooded and there were wet sheets and towels everywhere. I'm sure that was the same linen they washed and put in the rooms later. Overall, bad stay and will not do that again.

Why did you pick the higher priced hotel in the first place? Did they have more amenities or services listed?

I would think the bed bugs would be more of an issue, then internet connections.

I too would usually opt for the hotel that sounds like it will be better or rated higher. Unfortunately, it certainly wasn't in this case. I agree with Skye--those bedbugs would have had me leaving very quickly, although I realize when college is starting, there may not be a room available anywhere.

At least with this post you will be warning other people away from this miserable sounding place. Thanks for the info.
