Baskin Robbins Complaint - No More 31 Flavors - Ice cream/coupons

Ice cream/coupons - Complaint
Review by bionicmama40 on 2010-10-19
PALMDALE, CALIFORNIA -- Let me start by saying I am a diehard ice-cream lover and my two favorite places to buy ice cream were Thriftys and Baskin Robbins. After Thriftys let down its loyal ice cream lovers by changing their ice-cream I was left with only Baskin Robbins. Eventually their ice cream started to go downhill. Don't know what happened but it's just not the same. I still would go for their German Chocolate Cake Ice-Cream which only they have, or Had! I have dropped in to two different local 31 Flavor shops in my area every two weeks for the last 8 months patiently waiting for when they finally get German Chocolate ice cream in, but to no avail. I give up! No one can tell me if/when they will ever get it in. In the mean time I took my son yesterday to get ice cream and used a "buy one cone get one free of equal or lesser value" coupon. My son and I picked out a plain cone that had sprinkles on the top. I knew it cost a bit more but I also figured I'd get my 2nd cone "free" as the coupon stated. I did not. The lady charged me. 65 for each cone and told me only the 2nd "Ice cream" was free, not the cone. What bull! False advertising, low quality ice cream, high prices and no more German Chocolate Cake ice cream???? No more BASKIN Robbins for me!

If the coupon was for "buy one cone get one free" I'm surprised they didn't charge you for the second portion of ice cream since technically you were only supposed to get an empty cone for free. I agree.. what bull!

Our local Baskin Robbins disappeared a couple of years ago and I don't know if there's any more around at all.

I was a sucker for their "Nutty Coconut".

Venice> Buy one cone, get one free sounds like a depression-era promotion, the way that you envision it.

We have things so easy, compared with our ancestors. My mom broke her leg in an accident because nobody could put new tires on their cars. It is hard to imagine a cone alone being a treat, unless bombs were falling out of the sky.

You just reminded me of something. I remember my mother eating cones with no ice cream. Not because she couldn't afford the ice cream, but just because she liked them that way!.. haha

As long as the cones have sugar in them its alright!

I haven't been into a Baskin Robbins in years. Do they charge extra for a sugar or waffle cone? Did the coupon state that the ice cream had to be served in one of those standard, yellowish cones for it to be completely free?

As for the ice cream flavor, it may not have been a big enough seller to justify continuing to make and/or serve it. Luckily, I like several flavors or ice cream so if a store doesn't have one I like I always have a backup. :0)
