ABC, Inc. Complaint - Choosing the finalists - Dancing with the Stars 2010

Complaint
Review by BT48 on 2010-11-17
One wonders how the American people contribute to the selection of the finalists on DWTS? My quess is that they don't, even though millions of people call in to vote. Why in all fairness would they vote for someone who lacks the talent and presentation that is evident to a higher degree in the other contestants? Maybe it's hidden in thje rules posted concerning the show. 'Producer Discression' justifies who is 'Best Suited' to continue to next week. Remember shows are retained 'on-air' by ratings and advertisers. Voting can be used by producers to justify advertising rates they charge their sponsors. After all, is not voting a method to determine viewer watching. These stars work hard to compete successfully and deserve, as well as the audience, a fair deal. Did anyone see an independently 'certified' voting count posted? I don't like being treated like a fool! ABC needs to verify results to the audience who have made the effort to vote for the best qualified, not who will supply the best ratings through controversy.

I refuse to believe that there is valid complaint against this show. Its gotta be one-arm bandit.

Turn the channel or find a good book to read.
Those stars don't care about you or anyone else voting anyway.

What is it with people today? Do they get that mad at a TV program that they have to come on a consumer website to complain about it? What happened to just shooting the TV and being done with it?

All these reality shows are subject to "producer discretion". The entire point of television is to be able to sell advertising to pay the bills and make some profit. Producers of reality shows will always skew a "vote" for this type of show to keep the most marketable contestant around. Easy to spot, if you notice that there is no "independent" verification of the voting.
