Wal-Mart Complaint - Black Friday - laptop

laptop - Complaint
Review by Bobbo Sr. on 2010-11-30
GLENMONT, NEW YORK -- Went to my last Black Friday sale at Wal-Mart in Glenmont. Went to the midnight sale. Was going to go back for the 5 am sale to try to get a laptop for 199.00.Before midnight the line was blocked off and I was told it was ALREADY sold out. Not too many people in line either. They each got two computers???What bull, none of them looked like they could afford 1. It`s obvious someone was fronting them money or Wal-Mart was paying them to purchase them!!!!Being a small town, and I know people who work their, I heard through the grapevine, many of the "Good" sale item`s never make it to the floor ! The group of people even brought their own chair`s to sit in. We got their around 10:30 pm and the line was forming !!!!!What a bunch of bull, and I will never fall for another Wally-World scam again ! Merry Christmas !

I would not have high expectations in buying hot items on Black Friday as I know they will be gone.

And you're talking about Walmart, the most popular store in town, where most people flock to.

A sub $200 laptop from Walmart..... If you didn't get one, you are probably better off anyway. I see this as nothing more than a stripped down headache.

Go to COSTCO or someplace similar and get a quality netbook, it is a far better deal.
Posted by MRM on 2010-11-30:
This is not a netbook, its a full-size laptop and it is a decent laptop. I would have gotten one myself if I wanted to.

Those laptops are Emachines which are the most crummiest computers u can get the original price isn't prob much more then that 199$.
Posted by MDSasquatch on 2010-11-30:
define "decent" please.

They had a 17" HP laptop for $398 at the location in my area.
Posted by MRM on 2010-11-30:
The $198 laptop is decent for emails, browsing web, typing documents, and burning dvds. It is not powerful enough for photo editing and gaming. As Ive said several posts above, I would have gotten myself one.

HEY!!! lol I have an emachine laptop I bought from wal mart back in May. It was 298 at that time, and I think its the same laptop they sold on black friday. Its actually not a bad machine. I just wanted a cheap laptop I could surf the internet with. didnt need anything special. This thing is great though, its fast, efficient, and have had no problems with it. (knock on wood)

Bravo, Prince! Absolutely nothing wrong with your laptop! There are some haters in the building!
Posted by Wally86 on 2010-11-30:
For those purposes its ok but if u want a reliable comp to do more I would look elsewhere.
Posted by justcuz on 2010-11-30:
Wally, I think you're right, I hear a lot of bad things about the emachines...oddly enough, I bought one about 6 years ago and that thing is still chugging away to this day. I must have got one of the few decent ones that were ever made, lol.

If your gonna have people sitting in the cold least give them a name brand computer sheesh.

Best buy had Toshiba's for the same price those are superb machines.
Posted by Ytropious on 2010-11-30:
People at most Walmarts didn't have to wait in the cold. The store was open, they could wait inside.

Bravo, Sooo Rad, on getting your grubby hands on your new lappy!

Did the people in line get two each? I would have expected WM to limit each person to one.

As far as people not being able to afford them at $199, maybe these are precisely the people who need a $199 laptop because they can't afford an $800 one. If you were dressed better than they, count your blessings this holiday season. That's what it is all about, right?

Before midnight, more people lined up than WL had laptops for. So they handed out tickets, and that was the end of the story. Limited supply. I don't see evidence of wrongdoing, just a bunch of people looking for a bargain.
WalMart WalMart WalMart WalMart WALMART! I can't believe I stayed at home.

Trmn8r, you missed the madness and alot of good bargains on Black Friday! Dont worry, in T minus 365 days till the 2011 Black Friday, you shall join the mayhem with the rest of us!

To think I'm sitting here with my broken down Dell, and I could be living the E = mc^2 world with a $199 eMachines. It almost makes me sick.
Posted by bluediamond98 on 2010-11-30:
My "house computer" that everyone uses heavily is an e-machine. That thing has been going and going and going for years - much longer than any of my HP laptops, or my Vaio, and probably some that I forgot.

You can't tell if someone has money or not just ny looking at them. When I sold jewelry, a man would come in all the time wearing dirty clothes with dirt under his nails. He owned his own business and was quite sucessful. He would drop thousands of dollar in one shopping trip. So you shouldn't judge a book by its cover
Posted by MRM on 2010-11-30:
Yes yes, Little, you told us that already.
Posted by littleshorty on 2010-11-30:
MRM, I doubt the OP has heard that experience. Lay off me dude
Posted by MRM on 2010-11-30:
My bad, Little, I had sefishly forgot about OP.
