UBid Complaint - Beware Of "Refurbished" Items - Television

Television - Complaint
Review by MANEX on 2010-12-08
I purchased a 19" refurbished TV for my grand daughter and opened the box 2 days before I was going to give it to her. When I opened it, the bolts/screws to mount the TV to the stand were missing and it had something rattleling inside. Put battEries in remote, hooked up power cord, plugged it in and it would not power up or turn on using the remote or power switch on the TV. Called Ubid and was told there was nothing they could do for me. $151 Out the window. Have been a customer for 4-5 years and will no longer buy anything from Ubid.
Company Response:
Our refurbished items come with warranties; however, they may be time sensative. Some of our refurbished products come with 90 days warranties and some of them come with 30 day warranties. All of that information is listed up front on the auction page. Unfortunately if you do contact uBid outside of our 15 day window and outside of the provided warranty the amount we can do for the product is limited which is why it is imparative that all products are checked immediately upon receipt. We do offer a 15 day money back guarantee on products that are defective or not as described, but do need to be contacted within the first 15 calendar days of receiving the product.

How long had it been from when you received the TV until you opened the box and tried it? I just looked at the website and it looks like they have a 15 day window where you can contact them for defects or even if you don't like something. Was this outside that 15 day window?
