2.71 Yellow Gold Tanzanite Ring - Complaint
Review by utes on 2011-03-22
We just came back from being on the Carnival Dream. We had a port at Costa Maya. We liked the ring and ask how much? "6,000---no, I asked for a better deal 3 times. The store manager called New York and we agreed for 2,600. Even, the gentleman from the cruise ship that specializes in jewelry said "It was a great deal" We were told that it would "appraise 6,000 to 7,000. Brought it back and it appraised for 3,700.

The bottom line is they were very misleading. They won't let me send it back. They will give me store credit.

Buying jewelry when a cruise ship pulls into a foreign port is always a crap shoot. Maybe you get lucky or maybe not.

It has been said on this site and elsewhere many times, don't believe what sales people say. You were taking a gamble making an expensive purchase like this at a foreign port. The fact that you had to keep asking for a better deal tells you they were not out to help you, only themselves.

And it still appraised for a $1100 profit... So what's the beef? You wouldn't have paid $2600 if you knew it was only worth $3700?

File a dispute with your credit card- for not worth amount presented may need to show an appraisal.
